SERVICES & TECHNIQUES

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a manual therapy that uses sustained pressure to release tension and pain in the body's soft tissue structures, including fascia, muscles, tendons, nerves; and organs when working with the fascia of the viscera. It is often used to relieve pain and stiffness, improve range of motion, and restore flexibility and strength.

NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT) is a therapeutic technique that uses manual muscle testing identify and correct muscle imbalances and movement compensations that can lead to pain and injury. Combined with manual therapy and movement re-education, NKT can improve muscle function, coordination, and posture, as well as reduce pain and the risk of injury.

Together, MFR and NKT can help you achieve optimal muscle function, and movement efficiency. Whether you're a person looking to relieve pain and improve your overall health, or an athlete looking to improve your performance, MFR plus NKT can help you reach your goals.

Other therapies that may be included in your integrated treatment:

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) (Rockblades, Graston, etc) involves using specialized tools to "scrape," or apply dynamic pressure to soft tissue structures in the body, such as muscles, tendons, and fascia. The purpose of IASTM is to help improve the function and health of soft tissues, reduce pain and discomfort, and enhance the healing process. Typically made fo stainless steel, they have a unique shape and texture that allows the practitioner to apply pressure to specific areas in a controlled and precise manner. While often considered a type of myofascial massage, IASTM is not the same as Myofascial Release. The two work great together.

Myofascial Silicone Cupping uses silicone cups (RockPods) to apply suction to the skin and underlying soft tissues. The suction, or "negative pressure", created by the cups is believed to help improve blood and fluid flow, break down adhesions and scar tissue, and relieve pain and discomfort by decompressing tissues. Often the practitioner will combine movements and stretching with the cups, to help facilitate neuromuscular connections.

Compression Band Therapy uses a strip of elastic material (RockFloss, Voodoo Floss, etc), such as a compression band or rubber tubing, to improve mobility and alleviate pain in the muscles, tendons, and fascia. The floss band is applied to the affected area and is used to compress and gently mobilize the soft tissues, while the client moves to facilitate the myofascial shearing. The purpose of rock floss therapy is to help soften adhesions and scar tissue, improve circulation, and enhance the proprioceptive function of the affected area. Rock floss therapy is often used to treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Musculoskeletal pain: The therapy can be used to alleviate pain and discomfort in the muscles and joints, helping to improve mobility and reduce the risk of further injury.

  • Sports injuries: Rock floss therapy is often used to treat sports and other acute soft tissue injuries, such as sprains and strains; reducing pain and swelling.

  • Mobility and flexibility: The therapy can be used to improve mobility and flexibility in the chronically dense areas, helping to reduce stiffness and enhance performance.

Visceral Manipulation. Developed by French osteopath Jean-Pierre Barral, it is a form of gentle manual therapy that focuses on the fascia and neural connections of the internal organs, including the liver, spleen, stomach, intestines, and other abdominal viscera. Internal organs – just like the muscles and bones – have a physical and functional relationship with the rest of the body and can be affected by physical, emotional, and chemical stressors. Visceral Manipulation aims to address these imbalances and restrictions within the viscera to improve their function and enhance the overall health of the patient. The techniques stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms, reduce pain and discomfort, and improve overall function and well-being. Visceral Manipulation is often used to treat a large variety of conditions, including:

  • Abdominal pain

  • Digestive disorders

  • Chronic constipation

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

  • Urinary incontinence

  • Herniated discs

  • Sciatica

  • Low back and Pelvic pain
